The National Center of Geological Information of the Institute of Geology and Paleontology, currently Geological Service of Cuba, has implemented a digital repository to safeguard valuable heritage documents and some of them are only in that institution; for the best organization and obtaining of results we worked in research project. The XABAL REPXOS tool was used as a method. The digitization of these documents guarantees their long-term preservation and facilitates their accessibility. This article describes the process of implementing the repository, from planning to execution, and analyzes the challenges and benefits of digitizing a selection of 125 heritage documents in the 1981-2000 period. The experience gained serves as a guide for future digital preservation initiatives in other institutions. The character of its regional metamorphism of pressure somewhat lower than that of the classic Barrovian type stands out. In this terrain there are several geological formations such as the Fm. Agua Santa of Middle Jurassic - Upper Jurassic (Oxfordian) age, in which it is intended to corroborate the genetic associations, the content and the statistical and geochemical behavior of the gneiss, plagiogneiss and granites. To determine these aspects, multivariate statistics were used with Pearson correlation indices and correlation dendrograms of variables and observations together with petrochemical analyzes of classification of geotectonic environments and discrimination of protoliths for the gneiss where they present an association with rocks related to a Continental volcanic arc magmatism, an environment that is not described with the Cretaceous Volcanic Arc and that initially differs from what was stated by Babushkin (1990). These samples have a 95 % correlation between them, possibly due to late episodes of magmatism that took place in the final stages of metamorphism of this terrain, so that this behavior of the larger oxides could be reflecting this contamination process suffered by the rocks in this context. }, }

The objective is the preparation of the Paleomagnetic Scale and the establishment of the Magnetostratigraphic Scheme of the Cuban formations. Regarding the methodology, oriented sampling of the different geological formations is carried out according to their lithological characteristics. 849 samples were taken in 27 outcrops in 9 Cuban provinces. The experimental physical treatment is carried out to obtain the primary components of the natural remanent magnetization in the rocks. For this, thermal demagnetization processes, by alternating magnetic field and by time, are used, as well as studies of magnetic saturation and its demagnetization by temperature. All this occurs in the presence of a magnetic vacuum. Chemical, mineralogical and spectrometric analyzes were carried out to support the research. The 28 paleomagnetic profiles were studied and the paleomagnetic Scale for Cuba was constructed and its comparison with the International Paleomagnetic Scales of Cox (1976) and for Central Europe. The positions of the magnetic poles during the Quaternary and the upper Pliocene are calculated. From the investigation of all the information obtained, it is possible to propose the Magnetostratigraphic Scheme for the Upper Pliocene and the Cuban Quaternary. Supporting criteria are offered on the neotectonics of the studied areas, as well as Glacioeustatism in the region.}, }

For this reason, the exploration and exploitation of natural gas and other alternative sources has gained great strength and Cuba is no exception. In 2013, a gas exploration study began in the areas of the Cuban Northern Oil Belt and the Central Basin area where the Motembo field (1881) is located, historic for its volumes of natural gas and light oils, trapped in ophiolitic rocks. In the gas sampling in this area, the existence of gaseous hydrocarbons and high values of molecular hydrogen were evident. Globally, in countries like the USA, Russia, France, Mali and others, this gas is being investigated to incorporate it into the energy basket. This work is a first look to begin to estimate this energy resource in Cuba, with the objective of obtaining a methodology for its evaluation and association with other geologist-geophysical attributes, applying exploratory analysis and data mining techniques. This preliminary exercise indicates that the application of these techniques is an important tool for multivariate analysis and search for relationships between gas attributes and geologist-geophysical attribute.}, }

Descriptive-genetic models of mineral deposits and a large set of monothematic maps made from the initial available maps or created directly from primary information were used. The quantitative part of the potential assessment was carried out by the method of analogy with standard deposits. Three magmatic events and 4 mineral systems were recognized on the Isla de la Juventud. The existence of successive and spatially overlapping metallogenic epochs was a very favourable factor for the development of Au and Ag ores. It also contributed to the occurrence of metallic mineralization with a wide range of useful components: Mo, W, Sb (critical metals); Au, Ag (precious metals); Cu, Fe Zn, Co and possible ETR. The orogenic mineral system was the most important and presented a well-defined geochemical and metallogenic zonality (Mo-W-Cu-Au-Ag-Sb-Fe) governed by magmatic-tectonic control, both vertically and horizontally. The estimated supergene nodular Fe potential, the partial estimate of Au and Ag and the geological favourability for the presence of ETR deposits adsorbed on clays make the Isle of Youth weathering mantle a prime metallogenic target.
