Se trata de una unidad volcanógena, volcanógeno-sedimentaria y sedimentaria, detectada principalmente por perforaciones geológicas en la Isla de la Juventud. En el presente trabajo se dan a conocer datos de una minuciosa investigación realizada por sus autores a partir de 17 pozos muestreados en 1984 y que no se habían dado a conocer. La unidad que se trata, se correlaciona con la Formación Orozco de edad Coniaciano-Santoniano expuesta en la parte norte de la provincia de Artemisa en la región occidental de Cuba. Se establece que, en la Isla de la Juventud, yace como mantos de sobrecorrimientos del Dominio Paleogeográfico del Arco Volcánico Cretácico, tectónicamente emplazados sobre rocas de los Dominios Paleogeográficos del Prerift y Margen Continental Norteamericano Metamorfizado. Al igual que en la Formación Orozco, se describen predominantemente lavas y tobas andesiticas y daciticas; en menor proporción rioliticas y basaltos. Ocurren areniscas y conglomerados tobáceos y silicitas.}, }

The implementation of Rainwater Capture Systems (SCALL) therefore represents an important strategy as a response to the effects of climate change. For this reason, in the international context and in Cuba, a series of actions and investments are established to promote thedevelopment of these systems.The main characteristics of the SCALL, as well as their current situation in various parts of the world and in our country, are addressed in this work from the consultation of recent bibliographic sources. These deposits, although exploited, were not evaluated as gossans for Au-Ag, being recently classified as virgin gossans due to their low degree of study for gold and silver. The paper systematises and argues several historical facts associated with these processes, contributing new elements with possibilities for the integral exploitation of the deposit with the extraction of gold and silver, and suggesting the need for geological research in the region. The analysis carried out is a first approach to relevant aspects that need to be studied. The need to reinterpret the information in the light of the advances in gossan studies and the increase in the knowledge of geological activity, makes it necessary to direct the projection of prospecting towards the identified virgin gossans, including the technical criteria obtained from the work currently being carried out. New elements are provided that argue for the inclusion of primary ores and also of the gossan, constituting a contribution to scientific knowledge for future prospecting work, an objective whose evaluation must be complemented. This work refers to designing the network of drainage wells for the control of water under the Payret block. There is a risk that it will be unstable or flood if proper measures are not taken. The most appropriate pumping system for the type of soil was chosen. The rate and drawdown caused by pumping were calculated using the transient water flow theory. The design of the pumping system included the selection of the number, location, diameter and depth of the wells; the type, diameter and groove of the casings, and the thickness and granulometric composition of the filter. Likewise, the minimum capacity of the pumps and the position of the dynamic level in the wells were specified. Groundwater flows into the excavated area, therefore, to extract it, it must be conducted through collecting ditches to pumping stations. This procedure is known as bilge pumping, which lowers the water table inside the excavated water and generates the flow of ground water. Existing information inside and outside the country was consulted and field work was carried out —which includes drilling—, in situ tests and sampling. The samples obtained were analyzed in the laboratory to obtain their physical-mechanical properties.}, }
