The museum is devoted to geological and paleontological sciences. It provides information to geoscientists and other related professionals, students and general public. Several images of most representative Cuban rock samples, minerals, fossils, and thin sections are presented, as well as its different collections and the original documents it treasures. The museum also shows representative samples of rocks and minerals from other countries such as Spain, Russia, Mexico and United States. The work fulfilled by specialists of the institution and the various collaborative activities and scientific extension taking place in coordination with other national and foreign institutions are promoted. Its role for the dissemination of general and national geological knowledge for both education and scientific research development in Earth Science is emphasized.}, }

As a result of this analysis 14 new geosites were included in Geologic Patrimony catalog of the province, grouped in three main categories: 4 of category A, 9 of category B and 1 of category C. Among the geosites with higher evaluation Blue Lake and Ashtray Mangrove Swamp were proposed as Local Monument and the inclusion of Ashtray Mangrove Swamp in Protected Areas National System. Although the volume executed by techniques (TEM) is lower than the induced polarization method, it allowed results generalization, collected in the IGP report “Systematization and Generalization of NW Electromagnetic Information of Pinar del Río Province” from 2009 year. Its main conclusions are following: Time Domain methods in this territory showed greater depth of investigation (up to 200-300 m) and greater resolving power, by separating the surface effects covers and conductive fault zones from deep conductive objects. Based on positive results with terrestrial variant of (TEM) the aforementioned IGP report proposed, in 2009, the execution of its aerial variant at 1: 25000 scale in Pizarrosas from Norte Heights, which materialized in 2013 with the aerial survey VTEM, executed by EMINCAR SA. It is now proposed to use the transient EM method in its terrestrial variant, for VTEM verification aerial anomalies, and as a basic procedure for terrestrial exploration at 1: 10000 scales, along with induced polarization conventional techniques, natural electric field and gravimetry, used in Norte Heights Pizarrosas.}, }

From then, and until the 90s, studies were carried out systematically, in regional survey projects, companion searches and geological surveys, expanding to magnetic susceptibility, remainder magnetization, density, and radioactivity, and in some cases, polarizability. The measurements of physical properties in these projects were made in samples taken in outcrops, wells and mining works, their results were represented mostly in form of tables and histograms. The physical properties generalization in the Cuba western region was carried out to supporting future geophysical geological interpretations, in support of geological cartography and search for mineral deposits, in order to plan geophysical methods complex more rational during geophysical geological investigations, which are carried out in future work. During this work physical litotypes properties of lithostratigraphic units and different types of ores were generalized. The statistical treatment of data was performed with its graphic histograms representation and frequency warheads. The georeferenced data of density and magnetic susceptibility of CAME II, Maximov and CAME III zones were processing , and proportional point maps were made, for comparison with the physical fields of gravimetry and magnetometry and their transformations, which together with the geology of area, allowed diverse existing geological environments differentiation.}, }
